As Christmas is just around the corner, it gets me thinking about how I want to decorate the house this year. Of course, every year, I want a completely handmade Christmas! I love all things handmade and I love Christmas! A completely handmade Christmas just makes sense! But I never have enough time to make all the things I want to. Or things take much longer than I expected and as Christmas gets closer and closer, I panic and I abandon the projects. I don’t know why I put that kind of pressure on myself. It’s a trait I hate most about myself and I hope to overcome that one day. But it’s happened every year, and every year I tell myself to get an earlier start but it never happens. Here I am again this year, still haven’t gotten started with Christmas crafting. Hopefully, this post will get me motivated to start today!
Two Christmases ago, my family was invited to join my brother’s fiancee’s (Molly) family for the holidays at their home. It was so wonderful! All the decorations were handmade by Molly’s mother, including the Christmas tree ornaments, stockings, and little cookies. I dug up the photos so I can share this with you today. Everything was so extraordinary and it would be a shame if these amazing little handmade ornaments weren’t shared with the world.
I loved how the presents were wrapped in brown paper, tied with red yarn. Simple.
Little handmade gingerbread man made of gingham fabric. I want to try to make this little guy.
Little burlap heart ornament. The tree also had burlap ribbon strung around it. It was beautiful.
Logi and I made these little candy cane reindeers and brought them over for everyone. It was a cute craft for him (age 3 at the time) but he cried every time an eye or nose fell off. Which was like, every 2 minutes.
I really liked the reindeer sugar cookies made with pretzels and m&m’s. Genius.
Handmade Christmas stockings hanging over the fireplace! I hope to make some Christmas stockings this year. I’m thinking of crocheting them.
This is one of my favorite photos of my family, mainly because my mom’s smile looks so sweet. She was excited to be getting a daughter-in-law soon! By the way, she made that crochet Santa hat herself! It cracked me up when she pulled it out of her bag and put it on.
Ok, I’m going to start on some Christmas crafts now and I’ll share them as I complete each one.
Thanks for letting me share!
Lots of love,
Susie :)
